about us

Sisi Velvet crafts a range of occasion accessories for the urban woman. Our conscientiously made products tell a modern story with traditional fabrics, techniques and materials - our portfolio boasts of pieces primarily made from aṣọ òkè, also incorporating damask, adire, lace, velvet and akwaocha.

Aṣọ òkè, our primary textile of choice is a hand-woven cloth that originates from the Yoruba people. Aṣọ òkè literally means "top cloth" in the Yorùbá language.

Producing this time-honored textile relies on the expertise inherited through family traditions, embodying the storied craftsmanship and cultural wealth of the Yoruba people. Aṣọ òkè is not just mere fabric, it is a statement of rich heritage, artisanship, status and history.

At Sisi Velvet, we are weaving a stylish, modern tale using this rich fabric.

Upon our launch in 2021, we spearheaded a movement that saw women excitedly exchange their traditional headgears (geles & ichafus) for a more modern interpretation - the headbands.

We have since organically evolved from a headband business to an accessory brand. We present artistic pieces created with intricate, sustainable and mindful techniques. Our work is heavily influenced by the Nigerian culture of owambe.

From the lively streets of Lagos to the global stage, our designs carry the essence of celebration - vibrant hues, intricate detailing and unmatched artisanship.

Taking inspiration from the bold, colorful and extravagant spirit of Owambe culture, we elevate celebration to an art form. Each bag is a masterpiece, crafted with rich textiles, adorned with exquisite detailing, and infused with the regal vibrance of Lagos' grandest festivities.

Our pieces are designed for the discerning, our collections transcend borders and offer unparalleled luxury that speaks to the rich heritage of the Nigerian communal spirit.

Each piece is handcrafted in our Lagos studio - blending ancestry with timeless elegance.
